After more than 20 years in education, I saw how often students need more than a standard academic program to succeed. They need a teacher who can recognize how they learn, identify what is holding them back, and develop the right strategy to help them move forward.

Maven Academy Online Courses
Grade 9-12 classes at Maven Academy count towards your OSSD (Ontario Secondary School Diploma). Maven issues a midterm and final report, with the final report sent to the home school. Maven Academy offers two distinct pathways for our students, designed to fit your individual needs.
1. Live Online Instruction:
Interactive, real-time virtual classes that combine the structure and collaboration of a live classroom with the flexibility of asynchronous study, all conveniently completed right from home. Classes with live instruction also benefit from a personal meeting with the Principal to understand your needs and help personalize your education.
2. Fully Asynchronous Courses:
Self-paced online coursework with no fixed class times are ideal for balancing school with elite athletics, work, travel, or other personal commitments. Paired with continuous, one-on-one support and feedback from an experienced teacher, asynchronous courses are excellent for driven, dedicated students.*

We handle the administrative details so you don’t have to. By consulting directly with the student’s home school staff when required, our collaborative approach to education takes the stress off both students and parents alike. All you have to do is put us in touch with the home school’s guidance counsellor, and the paperwork goes straight there.

FAQ
1. How do Maven Academy’s live instruction courses work?
Maven Academy courses meet the standard 110-hour credit requirement generally through a 50/50 model: 55 hours of pre-scheduled live instruction with an expert teacher, paired with 55 hours of guided asynchronous independent work.
*The hours of this model vary for upgrade, repeat and retake courses. Please ensure to speak with a Maven representative to find out more about your specific course.
2. How do Maven Academy’s Asynchronous courses work?
This choice for a student is completely self-paced, backed by active teacher access. While coursework is completed independently, an expert educator is readily available to answer questions, explain concepts, and evaluate all coursework and exams. Please note that Asynchronous courses take four weeks or longer to complete.
3. Can you get your full OSSD at Maven Academy?
Yes, students are able to get their full Ontario Secondary School Diploma at Maven Academy!
4. How long do courses take?
Maven Academy has so many course options that students can take that the length of the course will vary based on student schedule and students needs. For live instruction courses, the time frame is usually 4 months. For Asynchronous courses, students typically finish in as soon as 1 month or can take up to 5 months to complete.
5. Do Universities recognize Maven Academy Courses?
Yes! Maven Academy credits are recognized by universities.
Note: We always encourage families to check directly with their target university programs to confirm any specific admission preferences.
6. My child has an IEP, how does that work?
Maven Academy accommodates students with an Individual Education Plan (IEP). Please submit your child’s documentation during registration (or email info@mavenacademy.org). We do our best to customize support based on official IEP records. During the one on one meeting with the principal, we can go into the strengths and needs to further assist in this process as well.
